Pressure Relief Port Installation

The Explovent Relief Port is designed for straightforward installation into insulated cold room, freezer room and blast chiller panels. The process requires only a suitable penetration, correct positioning and electrical connection by a licensed electrician.

The overview below outlines the standard installation process.

Step 1

Cut Penetration

Using the appropriate hole saw or panel cutting method, create a penetration matching the selected Explovent Relief Port size.

Ensure:

  • The cut is clean and free from damage
  • The penetration matches the specified model diameter
  • Surrounding panel materials remain intact

A correctly sized penetration helps ensure proper fitment and sealing.

Step 2

Insert & Seal

Insert the Explovent Relief Port through the panel from the external side toward the internal side.

Once positioned:

  • Align the unit correctly
  • Secure the assembly
  • Apply suitable sealing methods around the penetration
  • Verify the unit sits flush against the panel surface

Proper sealing helps maintain panel integrity and prevent unwanted air leakage.

Step 3

Check Electrical

Before completing installation, inspect the electrical tail and wiring.

Ensure:

  • Wiring is free from damage
  • Connections remain dry and protected
  • Cable routing avoids sharp edges or abrasion points

The electrical heater assists reliable operation by reducing the risk of ice buildup around the relief mechanism.

Step 4

Cover & Connect

Install the cover plate and complete final sealing.

Electrical connection must be completed by a licensed electrician in accordance with Australian standards.

Once connected:

  • Verify operation
  • Confirm all fasteners are secure
  • Check seals are intact
  • Ensure the relief mechanism moves freely

The unit is now ready for operation.

Recommended Installation Location

For best performance, pressure relief ports are typically installed:

  • High on a wall or ceiling
  • Away from direct evaporator airflow
  • In a position that allows unrestricted pressure equalisation
  • Where future inspection and maintenance can be easily performed

Correct positioning helps minimise ice formation and supports consistent pressure equalisation.

Important Heater Activation Notice

Do not activate the heater element until the cold room has reached its intended operating temperature.

Activating the heater too early during commissioning can expose surrounding materials to unnecessary heat and may damage plastics or adjacent panel materials.

Always complete commissioning in accordance with the supplied product instructions.
